At JBSA-Randolph, Texas, on April 18, 2019, Joint Base San Antonio Airmen in authentic World War II-era uniforms posed before a B-25 Mitchell aircraft during a memorial service honoring the life of retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Richard “Dick” E. Cole. The last surviving Doolittle Raider, Cole served as co-pilot to then-Col. Jimmy Doolittle in the legendary 1942 Doolittle Tokyo Raid, one of the most iconic missions of World War II.
